Short answer: No single price fits every soundproof room in Pakistan. The cost depends mainly on four things: how much noise you need to block, the size of the room’s walls and ceiling, how many doors, windows and ducts it has, and whether you also need acoustic treatment inside. A meeting room that only needs better speech privacy costs far less than a recording studio or courtroom built as a room within a room. The only reliable figure comes from a site survey and a written bill of quantities, which a soundproofing contractor in Lahore or Islamabad can usually arrange quickly.

This guide is written for government departments, universities, broadcasters and large companies planning a soundproof room. It explains what drives the price, which parts cost the most, and how to compare quotations from different soundproofing companies.

What “soundproofing a room” actually means

People often use “soundproofing” for two different jobs, and mixing them up is the most common reason quotations don’t match.

Soundproofing (sound insulation)

Soundproofing stops sound passing through the walls, floor, ceiling, doors and windows. It keeps generator noise, traffic and corridor noise out, and it keeps private conversations in. It works through mass, airtight construction and separation between layers, for example a second wall on its own studs, or a ceiling hung on isolating hangers.

Acoustic treatment

Acoustic treatment controls sound inside the room. It reduces echo so speech is clear on microphones and video calls. It uses acoustic panels, ceiling tiles, diffusers and bass traps. Acoustic panels on their own do not stop noise getting in or out.

Most serious projects need both. A recording studio or courtroom needs insulation for privacy and treatment for clarity. See our meeting room soundproofing and acoustic panels and materials pages for how the two work together.

Soundproof room cost in Pakistan: the main price factors

The table below shows what drives the cost of a soundproof room, and how a good contractor keeps each item within budget. Ask for a written breakdown under the same headings so quotations can be compared fairly.

SrCost factorWhat drives itHow we keep it in budget
1Wall insulationWall area, noise target, number of layers, whether a separate wall leaf is neededUpgrade only the walls that face the noise source; use the existing wall as one layer
2Ceiling insulationCeiling area, height, noise from floors above, services in the voidTreat the ceiling void and seal penetrations before choosing a full isolated ceiling
3Floor isolationFootfall or machine vibration, rooms belowSpecify floating floors only where vibration is a real problem, such as studios and plant rooms
4Soundproof doorDoor size, rating, seals, frame, finish, fire requirementsMatch the door rating to the wall rating so you don’t overpay for one element
5Soundproof window / glassGlass area, laminated or double glazing, frame typeReduce glass area where possible and use laminated glass where it gives the most benefit
6Ventilation and AC silencingDuct routes, airflow, number of openingsRe-route or line ducts rather than replacing the AC system

Level of noise reduction

The bigger the reduction you need, the more layers and separation the room requires. Blocking normal office chatter is far cheaper than isolating a drum room or a diesel generator. A good soundproofing company will agree a target with you first, such as a noise level or a sound insulation rating, and design to that target.

Room size and surface area

Walls and ceilings are usually priced by area, so a larger room costs more. The shape matters too: a long hall with a high ceiling has much more surface than its floor area suggests.

Doors, windows and ducts

These are the weak points. A solid wall with an ordinary hollow door performs about as well as the door does. Many complaints about “soundproofing that doesn’t work” come down to a door gap, a single-glazed window or an open AC duct. That’s why the soundproof door price in Pakistan and the soundproof windows price in Pakistan often make up a large share of the total.

Existing building structure

Older government buildings, heritage halls and rented offices may not allow heavy new walls or changes to the façade. Surface-mounted systems and reversible fixings cost differently from new construction.

Location and working conditions

Work in Lahore and Islamabad is straightforward to schedule. Sites in other cities, secure premises, night-only working or work inside a running office can change the cost.

What drives the cost by room type

Offices, boardrooms and meeting rooms

The main need is speech privacy and clear video calls. The usual scope is full-height partitions to the slab, an acoustic door, sealed glass, a treated ceiling void and wall panels. See office acoustic solutions. Cost depends mostly on the partition height, the glass area and the door, because speech leaks through the weakest path.

Recording, radio and TV studios

Studios need the highest isolation: room-within-a-room construction, floating floors, double doors (a “sound lock”), silenced ventilation and careful interior treatment. See recording studio solutions. Studios cost the most per square foot because every surface, door and air path has to be isolated, and the interior has to be tuned for recording.

Courtrooms and hearing rooms

Courtrooms need confidentiality, clear speech for the bench and recording systems, and they have to stay usable while proceedings run. Doors, glazing and ceiling paths are the priority, combined with treatment so microphones pick up speech cleanly. Cost depends on the level of confidentiality required, the number of entrances and public galleries, and whether recording and audio systems are included.

Server rooms, generator and plant rooms

Here the aim is to keep machine noise from reaching offices and neighbours. This means heavy wall and ceiling build-ups, acoustic doors, attenuated air paths and sometimes enclosures. See industrial soundproofing. Cost depends on how loud the machines are, how close the nearest offices or neighbours are, and how much airflow the equipment needs.

Classrooms, lecture halls and auditoriums

Universities and schools need clear speech and less disturbance between rooms. See educational soundproofing solutions and cinema hall soundproofing for larger spaces. Cost depends on the number of rooms, the hall volume and whether sound systems and seating are part of the same contract.

How to compare quotations from soundproofing companies

When two soundproofing contractors in Lahore or Islamabad give very different prices, they’re usually quoting different scopes. Check:

  1. The target. Does the quote state the noise reduction or rating it aims for, or only list materials?
  2. The weak points. Are the door, windows, ducts and ceiling void all included, or just the walls?
  3. The materials. Board type and thickness, insulation density, door seals, glass build-up.
  4. The drawings. Is there a section drawing showing how each wall and ceiling is built?
  5. Testing. Will noise be measured before and after, with a written result?
  6. Warranty and support. How long is the warranty, and who handles defects?
  7. Procurement fit. Can the supplier provide the documentation your PPRA or organisational procurement process requires, such as BOQs, technical compliance sheets and completion certificates?

A low price that leaves out the door or the ductwork usually costs more in the end.

How Sound Krafted delivers soundproofing projects

Sound Krafted is an independent, brand-neutral system integrator based in Lahore, working across Pakistan including Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Karachi. We aren’t tied to one manufacturer, so we choose materials, doors, glazing and acoustic products to suit your room, your budget and your procurement rules, from any brand.

Our process:

  1. Site survey. We inspect the room, measure existing noise and identify the weak points.
  2. Design and BOQ. We prepare drawings, a specification and an itemised bill of quantities that matches your tender format.
  3. Supply and installation. One team handles construction, doors, glazing, ventilation silencing and interior acoustic treatment.
  4. Integration. Where needed, we add audio, conference, recording or ICT systems so the room works as a whole.
  5. Testing and handover. We take measurements, hand over documents and provide after-sales support.

We have completed 31+ projects for clients including PTV, Radio Pakistan, HEC, FAO, GIZ, UMT, BNU, NESPAK, ENGRO, the CM Office and the Punjab Council of the Arts. See our client list and case studies for the Punjab Council of the Arts, the CM Office Hall and the Darbaar Hall.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to soundproof a room in Pakistan?

It depends on the noise reduction needed, the area of wall and ceiling to be treated, the number of doors, windows and ducts, and whether acoustic treatment is also required. A site survey gives an exact quotation, and Sound Krafted offers a site survey and quote.

What is the soundproof door price in Pakistan?

It depends on the door size, the sound rating, the seals and frame, the finish and any fire rating. Doors are the most common weak point, so the door rating should match the wall it sits in.

Do acoustic panels soundproof a room?

No. Acoustic panels reduce echo inside the room but do little to stop sound passing through walls. Soundproofing needs mass, airtight construction and separation. Most rooms need both.

Can an existing office be soundproofed without major construction?

Often, yes. Sealing gaps, upgrading the door and glass, treating the ceiling void and adding an independent wall lining can make a big difference with limited disruption. The survey shows which steps give the most benefit.

How long does a soundproofing project take?

It depends on the room type and the scope. A single office or meeting room is much quicker than a studio or courtroom, and approvals, site access and working hours also affect the schedule. We confirm the programme in writing with the quotation.

Which soundproofing company works with government departments in Lahore and Islamabad?

Sound Krafted works with government, military, education, broadcast and corporate clients across Lahore, Islamabad and other cities. We provide BOQs, technical compliance documents and completion records to meet procurement requirements.
